The Cold Is Bold

Posted by Jeremy Reiner

Cold yet again. That's our theme for the month with 18 of the 28 days being colder than normal and the monthly temp is running about 2.5 degrees below normal. A far cry from last November when Boston saw the 2nd warmest November on record. That was so last year.

Plan on another chilly day with a mix of sun & clouds for the day. Temperatures will crawl into the low 40s by afternoon but a feisty wind (10-20mph) will add even more chill into the air for much of the day & evening. Dry & chilly weather continues this evening (read Boston Common Tree Lighting).

Even colder weather on tap for tomorrow as a blast of arctic air arrives. This arctic air will keep temps pinned down in the low to mid 30s for much of the day--way below our normal high of  47. Then things get ironic... a warm front begins its push into New England on the first day of meteorological winter--December 1st. This front won't be able to warm the air on Saturday but it will create clouds & patches of light snow/flurries through the day. A coating is likely in many towns during the day on Saturday. This warm front does deliver the goods by Sunday though with temps soaring into the upper 40s by afternoon.

Enjoy your Thursday!

50/50 Weekend

Posted by Chris Lambert

We're off to an iffy start to the weekend as nuisance rain and wet snow moves across the area.  While it's not a well organized area of low pressure, it develops right near us midday, and that'll be enough for a tricky forecast.  Light to moderate  rain/snow is on and off early this morning with a heavier burst of precipitation possible late morning, through mid afternoon in eastern MA (11:00AM-3:00PM).

Final Days

Posted by Pete Bouchard

That's the way to get it done! Fine finish to the workweek as sun dominated and winds behaved.

I submit that is the one - and perhaps only - reason these days have felt springlike in this extended thaw. If the winds were gusty on a day like today, the sun (albeit a little stronger these days) is really no help.

Great Mid-Winter Weather

Posted by Jeremy Reiner

Nice mid-winter weather? Here's how I envision it:

*Mild temps (40 or higher)

*Little to no wind

That last bullet point (IMO) is probably the biggest when outside this time of year. After our morning fog lifts out of here all three of those criteria will be met this afternoon's Friday. #Winning.

Colder Temperatures Cometh

Posted by Pete Bouchard

As far as blah days go, this was the blahest.

Fog blanketed the area as winds remained light and variable. We're still looking at some fog, but the thickest part of it should only be during the first half of the night. After that, gentle winds should "mix out" some of the heavily fogged in areas.
