FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WHDH) -- The New England Patriots' quest for a fourth Super Bowl ended with a screeching halt on Sunday.

“You play a game. You’re either euphoria or crash landing. So for us [Sunday] was a crash landing,” said Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

The remains of their postseason run once again stashed away in boxes and trash bags.

“Nature of this business, it’s win it or go home,” said Patriots cornerback Kyle Arrington.

“It’s hard the first couple of days to think about that your season is over. That’s the NFL. That’s football. That’s how it works,” said Patriots defensive end Rob Ninkovich.

But what the Patriots will take with them into this offseason is the belief they will bounce back.

“The future is definitely bright so we’ve got to continue to be mentally strong and learn from it,” said Ninkovich.

“We are one of the best teams in the league, y’all know that,” said Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib.

“I’m looking forward to what next year brings. Take it from there,” said Arrington

Belichick wouldn’t comment on the future of his players, but he did confirm his. He stated that he will return next season and continue his run as the longest tenured head coach in the NHL.

The Patriots said they will take a few weeks off to heal their bodies and spend time with their families. After that, it’s back to work on what the Patriots call a promising future for the football team.
