LONDON (NBC) -- Twenty-three days to go and in London they are even counting down the hours.

The Olympic rings adorn Tower Bridge giving some idea how London's historic landmarks will enhance these games. The Horse Guards parade which is the backyard to the prime minister’s office will be the venue to beach volleyball. The main road leading to Buckingham Palace will host the marathon.

The London organizers say these Olympics will turn the city into a giant party will big screen TVs in Hyde Park for those who can't get tickets to the events, the only debate going on the moment is security.

The plan to place anti-aircraft missiles around the capitol is being opposed especially by residents of one high-rise apartment block which will get missiles placed on the roof.

The operation to protect the Games is massive with a security staff numbering at least 35-thousand, police...safety and military personnel.

Still getting the venues ready is running smoothly according to the organizers.

And the Olympic Village is already functioning ready to accommodate 10,000 athletes from more than 200 countries.
