Massachusetts Governor Race -- Affordable housing

 Healey's proposal would provide incentives for cities and towns to amend their zoning regulations to allow for more housing. She also wants to make housing more affordable for first-time homebuyers. [more]

 Mihos would double state spending on the Massachusetts Affordable Housing Trust Fund, increasing it from $20 million to $40 million annually. He also supports fully funding soft second loans, which are given through a state program to assist first-time buyers. [more]

Patrick believes housing is necessary as both an "economic necessity and a moral imperative." Patrick says affordable housing is needed for workers and their families so that Massachusetts can attract businesses and jobs as well as encourage workers to relocate or stay in the Bay State. [more]
