BALTIMORE (CNN) -- A 6-year-old's actions during a game of cops and robbers on the playground is raising some questions: was it child's play or a serious threat of violence?

For the second time in less than a month, 6-year-old Rodney Lynch was suspended for using his fingers as an imaginary gun. CNN said the incident happened at Montgomery County school.

"[I was] just pointing my fingers like this and then [another student] did the POW sound and I just went like [this]. And then I got sent to the office again," said Lynch.

The school reversed its decision after Rodney's parents appealed.

"They're saying he threatened a student. Threatened to shoot a student. He was playing," said Rodney Lynch, senior, Rodney's father.

Maryland-based child psychologist Joe Kaine said most 6-year-olds' minds aren't developed enough to understand why their idea of fun play might make adults upset.
