MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (WHDH) -- Police are searching for the man who was caught on video taking off with a cash register from a South Florida pharmacy.

A man was seen on surveillance video walking into a CVS pharmacy off of Biscayne Boulevard just after 8 p.m.

He was seen roaming the aisles then moments later he walked behind the register counter, ripped off the cash register and took off. "It was very brave the way he did it," said Miami Shores Police Detective Paul Cazzola. "Considering the amount of people that were in the store and the fact that we just don't see that on a regular basis here."

Miami Shoes Police handed out flyers to the public on Tuesday afternoon to inform them about the CVS crook. "We know a lot of people who come to this area to do their shopping, so basically we are trying to find out who this person is," said Cazzola talking to a customer.

Police said about 20 blocks north, another CVS was targeted. Police believe the same man committed the same crime and ripped off another register before the Miami Shores incident. "At this point, we don't know if this gentleman was armed" said Cazzola. "What would he have done if he was confronted?"

CVS customer Bill Mcglaughlin is stunned about the news. "That's what they have to do chain down the register," said Mcglaughlin.

The suspect was caught on video outside a nearby bank, smashing the register on the floor. "We are looking for you and we will find you, and hopefully after this is shown on TV we will know who you are," said Cazzola.
