Police identify man killed on Webster highway ramp

WEBSTER, Mass. (AP) -- State police are investigating the death of a 24-year-old pedestrian who was struck and killed on a ramp to Interstate 395 in Webster.
Authorities on Wednesday identified the victim as Webster resident Jeremy Paige, saying preliminary investigation showed he was walking in a travel lane when a truck hit him and didn't stop.
Police responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Paige was declared dead on the way to the hospital.
Based on witness interviews and physical evidence, police identified the tractor-trailer that possibly struck Paige.
State police got the company that owns the tractor-trailer to contact the driver, who pulled over in Woburn and awaited police.
Police have interviewed the driver, a 44-year-old Dracut man whose identity they withheld.
Authorities are determining whether to file criminal charges.
