BOYLSTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- A young boy who has a serious love for Legos desperately wanted a specific Lego set. His parents said he could have it, but he needed to save his money. He did -- but that set of Legos was sold out, so the company stepped in.

The 11-year-old boy had a little dream that took a lot of work the moment it came true, and was even better than his family could have imagined.

James Groccia had been saving for two years to buy Lego's Emerald Night train set. But by the time he saved up the money, he learned Lego was no longer making the kit.

“They were all over the place last Christmas, but when I finally had the money, they were completely gone,” said James Groccia.

Searching everywhere for one last model of the Lego train became a bit of an obsession for James Groccia who has Asperger’s.

“People with it can lock on to things kind of get singularly focused,” said Jay Groccia, James’ father.

So the Boylston boy took a bold step by writing a letter to Lego headquarters as a last resort to see if they could help find one. A letter came back saying there were no sets left.

Two days before his 11th birthday, a box from Lego came in the mail. James’ parents set up cameras so they could capture the moment.

Now James will always remember with enough work, he can make his dream come true.

“Thank you so much Lego. Thank you for making my dream a reality,” James said.
