WORCESTER, Mass. (WHDH) -- A young mother in Worcester is being remembered after she was hit and killed by a school bus as she crossed a street.

Posters of victim Jessica Spinola cover the wall outside the building she was heading to when she was hit and killed by the school bus.

The bus that hit her was on its way back to Charlton after ferrying passengers for a local company to a nearby garage.

"She was a great mom, she would have did anything for her son and now, he won’t get to know that," said Regina Spinola, victim’s sister.

Police say the 20-year-old was in the left lane, got out of the car she was a passenger in, grabbed something from the backseat, and started walking.

"As this woman was walking in the cross walk, past her vehicle and then entering in the area front of the school bus, the light had turned green and traffic started to move and that's when she was struck," said Officer Robert Hazelhurst, Worcester Police Department.

Jessica Spinola was bringing her son, Damiun, a gallon of juice when the 62-year-old female driver stepped on the gas, killing the woman.

"She hit her, ran her over, and dragged her. You think she felt anything? No. I know she took something from us. We want her to feel the same,” said Mary McDaniel, victim’s aunt.

The intersection where the victim was hit is heavily traveled. As police investigate what happened, Jessica's family has already made up its mind.

"She's gone because you didn’t pay attention. Regardless of whether or not they cite you, you are still guilty," said Regina Spinola.

The company the woman works for says she is on leave pending the outcome investigation.
