WORCESTER, Mass. (WHDH) -- A birthday present led to a lucky day for a Worcester college student.

Ryan Bartholomew was given a $5 scratch ticket from his grandfather and ended up winning big. The 26-year-old won $2,500 a week for the rest of his life.

The winning ticket was bought at a convenience store in Webster.

Bartholomew, who was discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps last year, plans to put his winnings in the bank, and save for the future.
