Lion statue on the prowl in Wellesley returns home
WELLESLEY, Mass. (WHDH) -- A lion on the prowl in Wellesley was returned to its rightful owner. Police said the lion statue was discovered Monday on someone's lawn.
A picture of the statue was posted on social media in hopes that the owner would recognize it.
People soon called in, saying the lion belonged to someone in Watertown.
“It may seem insignificant but it had a lot of sentimental value. Their father had brought two lions from Indiana where they used to live. He'd paint them every year and take good care of them. Now it’s back with the owner,” said Sarah Walsh, Dispatcher of the Wellesley Police Department.
Police say they do not known how the statue ended up in Wellesley.
