Police: Abducted New Bedford man found in Conn.
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) -- Police say a New Bedford man abducted from his apartment has been found in Connecticut.
Detective Capt. Steven Vicente tells The Standard Times 29-year-old John Sylvia was left along a road in East Hartford Thursday night, and walked into a convenience store. He said Sylvia had some minor injuries and his hands were bound with zip ties.
Police said earlier two men wearing jackets with the word "Police" on them went to Sylvia's apartment late Thursday morning, handcuffed him, bundled him into a white U-Haul van with Arizona plates, and drove away. Police said the alleged abductors confronted Sylvia's girlfriend in the parking lot and took her house keys. Vicente said police are looking for two suspects and the van, which has been reported stolen.
Police said Sylvia is on federal probation for drug charges.
