Police: Three homes struck by bullets in Providence

PROVIDENCE (NBC) -- Providence police said Thursday that three homes were struck by bullets.
Police said they found bullet holes at 23, 25 and 37 Comstock Ave. The shots were fired at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Residents of the houses said they heard gunshots, but did not see who fired them.
Olive Payne said she was watching television with her nephew and her three children at 23 Comstock Ave. when she heard what she thought was fireworks.
She noticed stuffing popping out of the sofa and realized that a bullet had gone through the cushions, just inches from her children's heads. Another bullet went through a living room wall and pierced a kitchen cabinet.
Payne said she has not idea when someone would target her home.
A bullet went through a mailbox and into a hallway at 25 Comstock Ave. Two bullets went through the side of a house at 37 Comstock Ave. and hit inside walls.
No injuries were reported.
Police said no arrests have been made.
