NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WHDH) -- Local hockey coach Anthony DeSilva appeared in court Friday after he was allegedly caught soliciting sex from a 16-year-old boy.

Investigators with the sheriff's office in Polk County, Fla., claim they have evidence DeSilva, 41, was on his computer trying to lure an officer, whom he thought was a 16-year-old boy, for sex.

"He told them in explicit, graphic detail what he wanted to do with them and what he wanted to do to them," said Sheriff Brady Judd, Polk County, Florida Police Department.

A state trooper attached to the Dartmouth barracks placed DeSilva under arrest just after 5 p.m. Thursday. He wrote in this report DeSilva was taken without incident at his parent’s home in Acushnet.

DeSilva is the owner and coach of the Massachusetts Maple Leafs, a hockey team that plays out of a rink in New Beford.

An employee there said the players come from all different areas, even other countries.

Neighbors said he grew up in the same Acushnet house that he lives in now with his parents.

“I just know the mother and father. I know he goes off with his hockey team and that’s what he does. He goes to Canada or wherever with his bus,” said neighbor, Yvette Costa.

The owner of Corner Sports, a New Bedford hockey shop, said he has known DeSilva for 20 years, as a hockey and baseball coach, who was also a good customer.

“It’s awful. It’s a shocking blow, like I said it’s shocking if nothing else. You know what I mean? You don’t expect stuff like this,” said owner, Tom Burke.

The sheriff in Fla. said officers posed as two different boys and DeSilva tried to solicit sex from both of them. DeSilva will appear in court again Saturday.
