HINGHAM, Mass. (WHDH) -- Investigators said they have received multiple reports of a suspicious driver since Friday, when an 8-year-old boy said a stranger offered him a ride.

Roger Marwill wasn't sure what to make of his son's report of a stranger on the way to his bus stop Friday morning, but now that parents have reported two other similar incidents, he is more relieved than ever.

"When it first happened, you know, a side of me said that maybe it was a well-meaning parent, but then when you read about the two other incidents, it starts to drive it home and you start and you think maybe we really did dodge a bullet there,” he said.

Sam Marwill, who said he was approached by a young man with black hair in a light colored station wagon or van.

"It felt a little odd to me and he asked me if I wanted to hop in the car and go to school with him and I said, ‘no, no thanks,’” said Sam.

Police said earlier that same day parents waiting outside the Plymouth River School reported a man in a similar yellow or white station wagon.

Investigators said he told the parents he was working nearby and took off.

Later Friday, on Winthrop Street, police said a parent reported a driver suspiciously slowing down and looking at her young children playing in the front yard and then taking off when she noticed him.

The description matched in this instance as well.

Hingham parents said they warned their children to watch out.

"I think it's better to be honest and just be upfront and then the neighbors can be more aware,” said Cheryl Pedone.

"It's scary, especially in a town like Hingham you think everybody’s safe. But, yeah, right? You know what to do? Run?” said parent, Arlene Moynihan.

Police said if any of these incidents sound like you or someone you know and there's an innocent explanation to please give them a call so they can ease some minds.

If not, a lot of parents and children will remain on guard.
