Wild ride ends with a crash into Cohasset business

COHASSET, Mass. (WHDH) -- A driver smashed through the storefront of the Fringe Salon in Cohasset on Friday morning.
Paul Patterson owns the building. He rushed to the scene as soon as he heard what happened.
“Unnerving to find a vehicle inside the building,” said Patterson.
The accident happened just before 7 a.m. on busy Route 3-A. Cohasset police said the 27-year-old driver had a medical episode.
“Well he ended up leaving the roadway right, hitting the pole, snapping it in half. Ended up in a large parking lot, which was empty at that time of day. He did a circle through the parking lot, back across two lanes of traffic of Route 3-A and into the building,” said Sgt. Christie Tarantino of the Cohasset Police Department.
The salon was supposed to have its grand opening in just two weeks. Chris Conroy has spent the past four months working to renovate his wife’s business.
“Nights, weekends it’s tough. It’s a tough loss,” said Conroy. “We’re just finishing this up and this happens.”
Conroy said the salon just had all the furniture delivered and they kept it right against the front windows.
Patterson and Conroy are cleaning up the mess. They are glad no one was seriously hurt.
Police said it was amazing no one else was hurt. The driver was taken to South Shore Hospital with minor injuries.
