BROCKTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- Thieves targeted a Brockton home, stealing jewelry, money and even the family dog.

Juan Ortega’s surveillance cameras captured two suspects walking down his driveway and then up on his deck, where they ripped off his screen window and broke into his Brockton home.

“I’m a nervous wreck. I don’t feel secure in my own home. It’s emotional,” said Juan Ortega.

Video shows the men grabbing a couple kitchen knives and ransacking the house, stealing money, jewelry, electronics, two handguns and the family puppy, a 12-week-old Yorkshire terrier named Kodi who was tagging along behind the intruders.

“Gaining the puppy back for my children is better…I’d be happy with that,” said Juan Ortega.

Ortega said the break-in happened Tuesday morning minutes after he left to take his 6-year-old son to school. His wife was at the dentist with their 3-year-old twins.

“I don’t feel safe. Don’t feel safe here at all. My son is very upset, he is distraught,” said Gina Ortega, Juan’s wife.

The Ortega’s are concerned about the stolen guns, which they said are properly licensed.

“The last thing I want to hear is that someone was actually hurt by one of those firearms,” said Juan Ortega.

The family’s biggest worry is their puppy, who is on medication.

Juan Ortega gave a message to intruders saying: “I hope that you find it in your heart to return the dog. You can keep everything else that’s materialistic because that could be replaced.”

Still shaken from the ordeal, the Ortega’s said they hope showing the video will cause someone with information to come forward.

The family has changed all the locks at their home and they said they are planning to upgrade their security system.
