State trooper sent to hospital after crash on I-95

NORWOOD, Mass. (WHDH) -- A state trooper was sent to the hospital after a crash on I-95 Southbound at Exit 11 near Neponset Street in Norwood.
The state trooper was working construction detail when he was rear-ended at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday morning by a pick-up truck carrying three people.
State police said the trooper involved was conscious and alert but in pain so he was taken to Boston Medical Center after the crash.
Preliminary investigation suggested the driver of the pick-up truck may have fallen asleep at the wheel. State Police said he will be cited for violations including operating to endanger and marked lanes violation.
The accident closed two lanes of the highway, but all lanes were cleared and open to traffic by 6:30 a.m.
