QUINCY, Mass. (WHDH) -- A father and son were killed when their motorcycle collided into the side of a dump truck Saturday evening.

The moment of impact occurred when the bike was heading down Ricciuti Drive as the truck was trying to make a left-hand turn, according to police.

The 40-year-old man died in Quincy. His 8-year-old son died later at Boston Medical Center.

“I saw that. You don’t have a chance. I was amazed. I thought for sure someone had been seriously hurt or killed just by the extent of the damage,” said a witness.

The accident occurred just feet from the victims’ home in Quincy at about 5:30 p.m. Neighbors said driving conditions at that time are very dangerous.

“Going towards the golf course the sun is just right in your face so that looks like the direction the truck was going and the biker coming down the opposite way, the sun was on his back. So, most likely the truck driver just sees a black dot or doesn’t even be able to see him,” said a local resident.

The driver of the dump truck has not been charged.

“We’re not thinking about charges right now. We’re just reconstructing the accident right now,” said an official.
