Cattle crooks swipe 49 cows from Dartmouth farm

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WHDH) -- Cattle crooks stole 49 cows worth an estimated $50,000 from a farm in Dartmouth.
Police said someone stole the cows from the communal farm sometime between 10 p.m. and midnight Saturday.
Someone tipped the owner off about a cattle auction in Pennsylvania, and sure enough, the cows at the auction were identified as his. Police in Pennsylvania had them released from the auction.
“We moved here last year so I don’t really consult with these people. I don’t really know nothing, I just stay on my property. But I’m not concerned about anyone stealing any of my stuff. It’s very peaceful, very quiet,” said Kristy Cabral, who lives near the farm.
The farm on Old Fall River Road is reached by a winding dirt road.
The cattle owner is trying to find a way to get his cattle back to his farm.
