HANSON, Mass. (WHDH) -- Two signs outside of a small business in Hanson that show the business owner’s feelings toward the president are causing controversy.

The political signs in front of the business along Route 27 in Hanson are stopping traffic and getting some people fired up.

“I think he has every right free speech its one of our freedoms,” said Nancy Williams, a resident.

One of the signs shows a little girl giving President Obama the middle finger.

“I don't like that especially with a little child,” said Nancy Williams.

The other one says "Somewhere in Kenya, a village is missing its idiot."

“The little girl's finger it probably shouldn't be. They gotta get rid of that and the other sign may be a little on the racist,” said Jay Williams, a resident.

The signs have been outside Sullivan’s Incorporated in Hanson for weeks, and as the campaign heats up, people's opinions are as well.

“It’s freedom of speech and for anybody to tell them they can’t do this, guess what, it's a sad country. Keep the signs going cause it’s their opinion and they're right to it,” said Richard Edgehille, a resident.

The business had no comment and the signs themselves seem to have turned more into a tourist stop than a political statement.

“As a person that drives by here on a daily basis yeah it is little bit of a distraction,” said John Locke, a resident.
