MANSFIELD, Mass. (WHDH) -- Mansfield town leaders discussed the troublesome fatalities, arrests, and assaults that have occurred at the Comcast Center concerts in the past year at Wednesday night’s board of selectmen meeting.

Two men died due to drug and alcohol use and over 40 people were arrested two weeks ago at a rave festival at the Comcast Center.

Town officials said the problem is not the local police or Comcast Center workers, but the individual concert goers.

“The behavior that has prompted all of this attention is part of a epidemic that can be seen at other venues similar in nature and even in our own backyards,” said Chief Neil Goldrighini, Mansfield Police Department.

“We are troubled by any loss of life, but not because we feel directly responsible, but because the individual made bad decisions that led to that loss of life,” said William Ross, town manager.

Town officials discussed implementing random searches, but concluded that the searches would have to be performed by Comcast Center workers, and not by local police.
