Conn. veterans agency to offer discount card

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Connecticut's Department of Veterans' Affairs is partnering with a national program to offer the state's veterans and their families discounts at a network of retailers, restaurants and service providers.

Interested Connecticut veterans, active duty military, National Guard, reservists and their families can enroll for the Veterans Advantage Inc. card through the state veteran's department website. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced the partnership on Friday.

Veterans Advantage partners with private corporations that want to honor the military and offer discounts on their goods and services, ranging from rental cars to clothing.

The card membership program is headquartered in Connecticut. It was founded by a group of veterans.

The Department of Veterans' Affairs website is www.ct.gov/ctva . Visitors to the site can receive a 25 percent discount on the program's fees.
