Babysitter charged with indecent assault and battery
ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WHDH) -- A jury in Attleboro District Court found Crystal Goodis guilty in connection with her work as a babysitter.
“This woman created her own house of horrors,” said prosecutors.
They said the 33-year-old from North Attleboro used to put on werewolf, vampire and clown costumes and show scary movies to two children she babysat in Norton three years ago. The kids at the time were 3 and 4.5 years old.
“Something happened to those children, we don’t know who they’re protecting, we don’t know who did it, but it wasn’t my client,” said Defense Attorney Paula Plouffe.
Goodis was convicted on charges that included indecent assault and battery on a child. The victims’ mother addressed the judge before the sentencing.
“I’m speaking for them because they’re too little to speak, but they have suffered for the last 3.5 years immensely,” said the mother, who wished to remain unidentified.
Goodis’ family had no comment on her 2.5-year sentence.
After serving eight months behind bars, Goodis will be on probation for 10 years after that. She’s been ordered by the judge to register as a sex offender in Massachusetts.
