ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WHDH) -- A man was shot in an Attleboro home on Smith Street overnight Sunday.

The victim had one gunshot wound in the abdomen and was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital.

The shooting happened just before 11 o'clock Sunday night. It was unclear whether or not the shooting was random. Police said when they arrived on the scene there was a woman giving first aid to the victim.

The victim was conscious and alert when rescue crews arrived and took him to the hospital.

Police reportedly seized the house because officers suspected illegal drugs on the property. Police also had to remove a large dog, possibly a pitbull, from the home in order to investigate the incident.

Police were searching for two suspects believed to be carrying a handgun. It was believed that two men left the scene in a dark-colored, four-door sedan.
