GROVELAND, Mass. (WHDH) -- A young Massachusetts woman was found dead on board a cruise ship in Australia Sunday.

Investigators believe her death was an accident.

Jackie Kastrinelis was living her dream; performing on cruise ships that took her all over the world.

"She was just such a talent that it was undeniable that she was going to be something great,” said Jacob Benjamin Taylor, a professional photographer.

But at age 24, her life was cut short. The Groveland native and graduate of Pentucket Regional High School was found dead in her cabin in Australia.

"You don’t think about these kinds of things -- you think about the life that you saw in a student. You think about the potential, so it's hard," said Jonathan Seymour, Pentucket Regional High School principal.

But the pain for many is easier to bear with a Facebook page celebrating her young and extraordinary life.

"You knew from day one she would go into acting and have a career like that. Funny girl," said Trisha Conroy, who knew Kastrinelis.

Details of her death are still unclear, but she may have hit her head during a rehearsal on board the ship.

Her family, waiting for her body to be returned home, is using Facebook to reach out to the community.

"It says, ‘These times are very tough for us and every bit of help is appreciated right now,’" Conroy read aloud.

Groveland residents are learning to cope with Kastrinelis’ untimely death.

"You’re never gonna know how the universe works. You’re just going to try to find some solace and make it through the day," said Taylor.

7News spoke with Kastrinelis’ brother who said the family is in the process of making funeral arrangements.
