SALEM, Mass. (WHDH) -- A surveillance camera caught a woman walking up to a porch and snatching a package.

“How confident she was when she did the whole thing, I mean she just walked right up and away. It’s unbelievable,” said Bill Bushong.

Brazen and bold is all Bushong could think when he watched the surveillance video taken from his Salem home.

“It was the middle of the day. It was about one o’clock in the afternoon. The package was about 65 pounds. I mean it was an effort to get it down the stairs. They picked it right up like it was nothing and walked off,” said Bushong.

This woman may have effortlessly hoisted away the large box but it’s Bushong who gets the last laugh.

“She probably got really annoyed when she saw it was a bird cage instead of a nice flat screen TV or something. I guess that’s the only satisfaction I get,” said Bushong.

The new cage was for Phatom, the Bushong’s mischievous pet bird.

The company sent the wrong one that Bushong left it out for UPS to pick up. When he failed to get a refund, he did a little investigating.

“I look back at the cameras. I looked back in time and as I’m spinning through it I see one second the package is there and next it's gone, so I start going in slow motion and sure enough someone come right up, walks away with package. Unbelievable,” said Bushong.

Police hope the surveillance footage will help them track down the thief.
