PLAISTOW, N.H. (WHDH) -- The Manchester Union Leader reported that the boy at the center of a high-profile child abuse case was released from the hospital Tuesday night after his mother’s boyfriend allegedly beat and burned the toddler.

James Nicholson is now staying with his maternal grandmother.

Jessica Linscott, 23, and Roland Dow, 27, are facing charges connected to the case.

Police say they dropped the boy off at the hospital before running from the law. They were eventually caught in Orlando, Florida.

They faced a judge for the first time Monday. The pair were being held on high bail, and if they were able to get out of jail, neither will be able to see the boy.
