Downed power lines, trees put Winchester on hold

WINCHESTER, Mass. (WHDH) -- Tuesday morning, Winchester, and many other towns, were waking up to the destruction left in Sandy’s wake.
In Winchester, Sandy knocked down power lines and uprooted trees.
A large tree was left resting on a home in Winchester. Branches went through windows, but there wasn’t any significant damage done to the home.
Emergency crews were on scene through the night, leaving early Tuesday morning. Around that time, NStar arrived. Officials said they were trying to cut power to the neighborhood so they could begin the process of cleaning up.
Officials said tenth of Winchester was still in the dark Tuesday morning. School was canceled for a second straight day. The Fire Chief said that they didn’t want to cancel school, but with the amount of clean up and power outages, they had no choice.
