CHARLESTOWN, Mass. (WHDH) -- An 80-year-old Charlestown man said he's lucky to have only lost a tooth when he was tossed from his bed.

“I was asleep, I heard boom an explosion,” said Jesso.

Rocky Jesso was asleep when around 3 a.m. a car careened into his bedroom wall.

“I went to the window thinking it was lightning,” said Jesso.

The crash that cracked Jesso's wall shook the three story house, waking both of his sisters who were asleep upstairs.

“I was numb I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe it happened,” said Lee Jesso.

The Jessos said they went outside to find the car that had hit the house, along with the young woman who was apparently the driver.

“She probably hit the gas pedal and backed up and went reverse. She knocked all the barrels in the yard down,” said Mary Jesso.

Everything in Jesso's room was tossed around too. The 80-year-old said he's pretty shaken. He thinks his metal bed frame kept him from being hurt any worse.

Building inspectors checked out the damage and said the house is safe to sleep in tonight. Police arrested the driver who they believe had been drinking.
