LOWELL, Mass. (AP) -- A 21-year-old Lowell man has been ordered held on $40,000 cash bail on charges he shot three people during a fight between two groups of people outside a city convenience store.

Chanphakdae Thang was arraigned Thursday in Lowell District Court on charges including three counts of armed assault with intent to murder in connection with Wednesday night's shootings outside Tedeschi's store on Bridge Street.

Prosecutors say one shooting victim remains hospitalized in stable condition. The other two victims and a fourth person who was assaulted were treated and released from hospitals in Boston and Lowell.

The fourth person, 31-year-old Shane Downs of Lowell, was charged with disturbing the peace. Authorities say he is Thang's friend.

Thang's lawyer questioned his arrest, saying no one had identified him as the shooter.
