Vt. woman accused of dozens of fake calls to 911
WEST RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) -- A West Rutland woman is accused of making dozens of non-emergency calls to 911.
The Rutland Herald reported that police searched the apartment this week of 27-year-old Heather Conte and found the cellphone they believed was used to make the calls inside a roll of socks, which was inside of a container of baby wipes, itself in a cardboard box.
State police say Conte initially denied making the calls, but admitted to them after the cellphone was found. She pleaded innocent in Rutland criminal court Friday to charges of making false alarms to emergency services and of violating the conditions of release on an earlier arrest on similar charges.
Troopers say Conte's history of making false emergency phone calls dates to 2008.
