Tree punches through roof of Wilmington home

WILMINGTON, Mass. (WHDH)-- A long tree limb punched its way into Paul and Elaine Palizzolo’s Wilmington bedroom.
“All of a sudden I heard this bang, I looked out the window, and I saw a tree up against the house,” said
Palizzolo said two trees came crashing down on his house when a fierce storm ripped through Wilmington.
The massive tree punched right through the roof in his attic. Big limbs also punctured the ceiling in his bathroom. Tree limbs are still poking through the roof, huge branches and tree trunks are laying all over the property.
A crane had to be used to lift the tree off of the house and deposit it into the front yard.
The Palizzolos can’t believe how lucky they are.
“If my wife or I were in the bedroom and that branch came through, we would’ve been killed. It came through like a spear,” said Palizzolo.
This isn’t the first time the Palizzolos had a close call at their home.
In 1975, a plane crashed through their back yard at their former home on Lawrence St.
Paul Palizzolo laughed, “So we’ve seen some experiences - ones I don’t really want to deal with anymore.”
