Couple killed in motorcycle crash in Maine

CROSS LAKE TOWNSHIP, Maine (AP) -- A 52-year-old man and his wife have died following a head-on collision between his motorcycle and a car in northern Maine.

Maine State Police said Allen Rossignol of Woodland was driving his motorcycle on Route 161 in Cross Lake Township shortly after noon Sunday when he drifted into the lane of an oncoming car, throwing him and his wife, 50-year-old Judy Rossignol, from the motorcycle.

Police said Allen Rossignol died from injuries while being taken to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent. Judy Rossignol died after arriving at the hospital.

Authorities said both of them were wearing helmets.

The driver of the car, 42-year-old Stephanie Dumais of Mapleton, was taken to Cary Medical Center in Caribou for treatment of a cut to her leg.
