Swimmer dies in NH pond

NASHUA, N.H. (AP) -- Authorities say a swimmer in distress who was pulled from a New Hampshire pond has died.

Investigators said two men were swimming in Sandy Pond in Nashua when one of them got into trouble. WMUR-TV says a police officer and several bystanders jumped in to help.

The fire department said the swimmer was suffering from cardiac arrest when he was pulled from the water.

The man, whose identity was withheld pending notification of family members, was taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center where doctors were unable to revive him.
