Alcohol, brake failure lead to Vt. crash

SHELDON, Vt. (AP) -- Investigators say brake failure and alcohol both played a role in a crash in which a woman was ejected from the truck she was driving in Sheldon, Vt.
Vermont State Police say 46-year-old Deborah Larson of Sheldon was ejected Saturday morning after her pickup went through an intersection without stopping and overturned in a field.
Troopers say Larson, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Northwest Medical Center.
Troopers say an inspection indicated a large amount of brake fluid had leaked from the vehicle, causing a loss of braking ability. Troopers say the investigation also revealed Larson had been drinking, so she was processed on suspicion of drunken driving.
