MACHIAS, Maine (WHDH) -- A woman in Maine recently found a note from the past.

She was picking up trash on the beach when she found a bottle, and inside the bottle was a note from a young Canadian girl -- written twelve years ago.

"I picked up this one bottle, and it rattled, and I noticed there were rocks in it,” she said. “So, I went to dump the rocks out, and I noticed there was also a note inside the bottle, so I got really excited, and I was like, 'There's a note in this bottle!'"

She got in touch with the girl who wrote the note, who is now fifteen.

The girl said she was three when her parents helped her write it and that she doesn't even remember the message.
