LYNN, Mass. (WHDH) -- Lynn police are looking for the public’s help to identify a would-be robber.

Police released video from an incident May 2 where a woman, who was leaving the Lynnway Liquor Store, was attacked from behind by a would-be robber.

The suspect tried to grab the woman’s purse. The video shows there was a violent struggle and the victim was dragged around the parking lot.

The victim managed to hold on to her purse and kick the suspect away before she fled.

"She did not know who this person was. The exchange was not too pleasant by the victim to the suspect. She was in a pretty good fight trying to get herself away from the victim as well as hold onto her purse," said Lt. Chris Kelly, Lynn Police Department.

A customer from a nearby gas station pulled up just before the suspect took off. Surveillance video also captured a shot of a silver four-door sedan that may have been the suspect's getaway car.

The suspect is described as a white, 5-foot, 8-inch tall female with dark shoulder length hair. She may have fled in a silver four-door sedan.

Anyone with information on the suspect should contact Lynn police at 781-592-7893.
