2 people die in Belgrade, Maine car crash
BELGRADE, Maine (AP) -- Police say two people were killed when the car they were riding in struck a tree in Belgrade, Maine.
Police say 20-year-old Kristin Lawler died instantly in the crash at about 11 p.m. Saturday. Another passenger, 20-year-old Jackson Bolduc, died Sunday night from his injuries.
A third passenger suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized.
Authorities say the driver was Lawler's brother, 22-year-old Travis Lawler. They say he fled the scene after the crash but was caught a short time later. Police said he is a U.S. Marine stationed in North Carolina who was home on leave. Troopers say he is expected to face charges.
The crash remains under investigation but state police say high speed and alcohol are factors.
