High bail set for Manchester, NH kidnapping suspect

MANCHESTER, NH (WHDH) -- A kidnapping suspect appeared in court Tuesday after an intense standoff in Manchester, N.H. Monday evening.
Police said 29-year-old Christopher Long kidnapped his pregnant ex-girlfriend at gunpoint and held her captive. Court paperwork says Long may have been angry over something the 18-year-old female posted on Facebook.
The victim recently took out a restraining order against Long.
“We do feel that given this information this individual presents a clear and present danger to this particular victim and also the public,” said prosecutor Steve Mangone.
Court paperwork says the victim woke up to Long pointing a gun at her face, ordering her to get up. Police said Long allegedly tied her up and drove her around the town before freeing her at a hospital. Police said Long then entered a Manchester home and refused to leave, saying he was suicidal.
Four hours later, Long left the home.
"After a while he came out quietly, just opened the door and came out," neighbor Stephen Gibson said. "Had his hoodie on. Smoking a cigarette."
The judge set Long’s bail at $100,000 cash because he could be a danger to others. He faces charges that include kidnapping and violating a restraining order.
