Haverhill boy injured after hit and run crash
HAVERHILL, Mass. (WHDH) -- A 10-year-old boy was crossing the road in Haverhill Monday night when he was hit by a car.
“I noticed that he was coming when I turned. I was trying to jump out the way but I couldn't because he was going too fast,” Aisea Cruz said.
Cruz has bruises on his back and needs to wear a leg brace.
“It hurts, and I don't know what I would say to him. But if they find him, I would be glad,” Cruz said.
Cruz was crossing the road with his two brothers, one of whom says he tried to warn his little brother about the car but wasn’t quick enough.
The two boys helped carry the injured boy home.
“He yelled out ‘mom, mom, I can't feel my legs.’ He screamed in pain, and we just carried him the rest of the way,” Angel Cruz said.
Cruz said the driver stopped and looked at him before driving away.
“It was a Mercedes Benz, four doors and there was a dent on the hood from me, when he hit me,” Aisea said.
Police are still looking for the vehicle involved.
