PLUM ISLAND, Mass. (WHDH) -- A second Plum Island home, battered by wind and waves, fell off its foundation Saturday morning.

The home was on Annapolis Way, just up the road from the first fallen home. Both the homes were torn down by excavators that dumped the debris into dumpsters.

Several other homes were also damaged and a third home will be taken down tomorrow.

“It’s terrible. It’s really sad to see these homes go,” said a resident.

“Midnight it was fine. At four o’clock this morning unfortunately it had succumbed and unfortunately these last two storms have just taken its toll on all our properties,” said Bob Connors.

Connors lives two homes down from the first house that collapsed on Annapolis Way Friday.

“It’s devastating to see my neighborhood being ruined like this. These are all friends- dear friends and family. We’ve known each other for years and years and years,” said Connors.

The damages are now well into the millions. About a dozen homes have been deemed uninhabitable for now.

“It’s a dynamic thing because not too long ago the building inspector went down and posted two more homes,” said a resident.

The largely unpredicted storm caught many off guard and because it was drawn out, it wreaked havoc that many residents hadn’t anticipated.

The high tides and wind have transformed the beach forever. State senator Bruce Tarr is appealing to the governor and emergency management officials desperately asking for help.

“We didn’t expect to see multiple homes in this kind of jeopardy and it’s been an incredibly sad day on Plum Island to watch homes taken down,” said Tarr. “No one expected this kind of devastation.”

As the clean-up work begins, homeowners are left wondering if there was anything else they could've done differently.

“This devastation has been the worst, we were just saying that,” said a resident.

“We really need a lot of help on the island, I’ll tell you that,” said a resident.

The good news is that the homes are mostly seasonal and no one was injured.
