SAUGUS, Mass. (WHDH) -- Six years after a hit-and-run accident killed two people in Saugus, charges are being file in connection with the case.

Those two people were crossing Route One when they were hit by a car. The driver then sped off.

On Monday, family members are reacting after three people were indicted.

“I’m sad she’s not around. I mean, obviously that. But I’m mad too that they hid it for this long,” said Michael Cowels, victim’s son.

Michael Cowels sat in Salem Superior Court where three defendants answered to charges in connection with the 2007 hit-and-run death of his mother, 33-year-old Tina Tello and her 28-year-old boyfriend Christopher Zullo on Route 1 in Saugus.

“It’s been rough for me. Every chance I get I go down to the cemetery honestly and just sit and talk to her and I just wish I could see her,” said Cowels.

Michael Tranchita Jr., 33, is charged with leaving the scene of a death. His 55-year-old father, Michael Tranchita Sr., who made an unsuccessful run for Middlesex County Sherriff in 2010, faces charges of misleading an investigator and conspiracy.

Lisa Cutting, 39, of Revere answers to the same charges. Prosecutors are not talking about what led to the break in the case so many years later.

“My son was amazing and he’s not with us anymore and it’s a great loss that he’s not here,” said Marie Zullo, the victim’s mother.

Suspects had no comment leaving court, but Tina Tello's son, who was 12 when his mother was killed, is sad and mad and wants justice.

“I will be there every court case, be sitting just where I was hoping to finally hear the ‘guilty,’” said Cowels.

The defendants will return to court on April 22.
