WESTBORO, Mass. (WHDH) -- The Secret Service stepped in to solve a money mistake in Westboro.

Last week, a teller seized $1,400 from customer Bryan Rivas because the bills appeared phony.

Investigators said the cash Rivas tried to deposit into his account at Citizens Bank is real.

The money will now be returned.

“It’s a good outcome for the resident. Hopefully he didn’t fall behind on his bills or anything,” said Chief Alan Gordon.

The Westboro Police Chief said the teller probably thought the bills were fake because they were old and faded.
