AMHERST, Mass. (WHDH) -- An assistant high school basketball coach in Amherst has been fired after he allegedly told his player to "foul" the opposing team's coach.

During a game earlier this week, the player reportedly ran into South Hadley's coach twice.

School officials say the Amherst coach asked the player to do it because he was frustrated the other coach was not being penalized for being out of the coach's box.

The Amherst superintendent has issued an apology to the South Hadley Schools. She says the student involved will be disciplined.
