Object smashes car's windshield on I-93

MEDFORD, Mass. (WHDH) -- A man was driving on I-93 north in Medford Monday night when an object damaged his windshield.
The object cracked David Sweetser’s entire windshield.
“I didn’t actually see what it was, it was dark at night, but it was just as I was going underneath the overpass,” said Sweetser.
The object hit the windshield and bounced off. From the residue that was left the object appears to be red in color, possibly a small brick.
Since the object hit the passenger side, and the glass windshield held in one piece, Sweetser kept driving and went to the state police barracks to report the incident.
“I didn’t have time to think of about it, it just happened so fast. I couldn't move off the lane to move over. I didn't lose control of the car, I just stayed in the lane trying to figure out what I should do,” said Sweetser.
The overpass that Sweetser thinks it came from is an on-ramp where no pedestrians are allowed. State police said it’s unclear if it was something deliberately thrown or just a piece of debris that fell off a truck or was kicked up by another car.
Sweetser wasn’t injured and is thankful the glass stayed in one piece.
“It hit so hard, it sounded so loud, it was a pretty substantial force. I’m just amazed that the safety glass held,” said Sweetser.
