NEWTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- Areas west of Boston saw wintry weather a little earlier than usual Wednesday.

Snow was still coming down in Newton late Wednesday night.

“Well, I’m not really totally prepared for it, including winter clothes aren’t out yet,” said Janet Huettig.

Driving on the Mass. Pike Wednesday night was slow-going at times.

“It was getting slick,” said Pratt Tanner, a driver.

People dusted snow off their cars for the first time this season.

“It’s exciting. Kids love it, right?” one man said.

The wind picked up in Newton late Wednesday night and conditions quickly deteriorated.
