WOBURN, Mass. (WHDH) -- From robocalls to helicopters to private investigators; a family is going all out to find their missing dog named Snappy.

“I’ve got two children with two legs. This is my girl with four legs,” said Anne Stetson, Snappy’s owner.

The search is on for Snappy, a 4-year-old Weimaraner who's been missing for six weeks. But her owners are so worried that they've employed some unconventional methods to track her down.

They've hired K9 private investigator Karin Targwyn from Nebraska to come help in the search.

“The last time right now that we can confirm somebody saw her, and we went and we checked with tracking dogs was Thursday,” said Karin Targwyn, K9 private investigator.

With a scent-tracking dog, they scoured an area in Woburn behind the YMCA and confirmed Snappy had been there since she went missing after Labor Day.

“She was taken up to this reservoir and she got scared of another dog who she was supposed to travel back to Cambridge with and she took off,” said Anne Stetson.

After social media and posters didn't seem to be enough, they tried call banks and helicopters.

“We've done reverse calling, helicopters that check out the security of the power lines to see what repairs need doing. They’ve got Snap on their list so they’re keeping an eye out for her,” Anne Stetson said.

Anne Stetson says she doesn't even know the cost of her search for Snappy -- she just knows it doesn’t matter.

“I have a deep bond with this dog. I love animals so to me it just feels like just the right thing to do,” Anne Stetson said.

Anne Stetson says Snappy is shy. She says if anyone sees Snappy, don’t chase after her -- just call the number on the fliers.
