WELLESLEY, Mass. (WHDH) -- A Wellesley family found a serious stowaway upon returning from vacation.

They were unpacking from their trip to Italy when they found a scorpion was hiding in a suitcase.

One woman was stung, and emergency crews were quickly called.

“They were unpacking their clothes and it must’ve been in the clothes. They put it on the floor and out came the scorpion and stung her in the foot," Dana Gerrans, an emergency responder with the Wellesley Fire Department, said.

The woman was fine after the sting, and the scorpion was removed by firefighters.

The creature is now living at the Wellesley college science center.
