FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (WHDH) -- A Framingham couple threatened to kill their own daughter and her two children.

According to court documents the Chinese couple also talked about burning their daughter’s house down.

Pan, the girl's father, was escorted from Framingham court Thursday and placed on a stretcher headed to the hospital after complaining he wasn't feeling well.

The 60-year-old man went before a judge Thursday morning with his wife, Chen. The two were arrested by Framingham Police after a shoving match at their home, where they had been staying with their adult daughter and her two young children, 8 and 18.

“It is a family dispute over money and it is an unfortunate situation,” said Michael Brennan, the parents’ defense attorney.

The parents wanted $50,000 from their daughter for smuggling her and her husband into the United States from China several years ago. They also wanted to be reimbursed for raising their grandchildren.

According to court documents, Pan threatened to kill the children and killed rest of the family and burn the house down.

“Those are serious allegations,” said Brennan, “any time you have an allegation like that it is serious.”

Pan’s other daughter appeared in court for making similar charges and the charges were dropped.

Chen was released on personal recognizance. Her attorney said it was a family fight escalating out of control.

“I think a lot of times when things like this happen, people get a little entrenched. Hopefully they can patch up their differences and move forward,” said Brennan.

Pan is being treated at the hospital. Bail was set at $2,000 cash and Pan was ordered to surrender his passport and stay away from his daughter and grandchildren until the case has been resolved.
